  • Return to school Tuesday 5th January 2021

    Mon 04 Jan 2021

    4th January 2021

    Dear Parents and Carers

Happy New Year and welcome back to the Spring term. We would like to inform you that we are planning to open as normal on Tuesday 5th January 2021 and to also make you aware of a new safety measure we will now be conducting.

To further protect children and staff we are introducing temperature testing at the start of each day. This will begin on Tuesday 5th January. Children will have their temperature taken when they arrive at the school gate and should your child measure a raised temperature, you will be asked to take them home. Please ensure your child is aware this will take place in the morning so they are prepared for this new safety measure. Staff will also be doing this on their arrival to school.

The school will continue with a frequent timetable for hand washing throughout the day. Quality hand washing routines will be vital and so please ensure the children have washed their hands before coming to school and wash them again as soon as they arrive home. We would also encourage all children to have their own alcohol free sanitiser in school each day, which will be used at regular intervals alongside what we have in school.

As the weather is now much colder, please ensure your child brings a warm coat, jumper/cardigan and hat/scarf to school each day. It may also be useful for the children to wear a vest or undergarment to also accommodate the change in temperature.  We must continue allowing air flow through our classrooms at various intervals and therefore do anticipate classrooms to be colder than normal.

Please remember the one-way system for dropping off/ collecting children and also the staggered collection times. We also ask that parents and carers wear masks/visors during the drop off and collection times please.

If you have any questions, please email the school office and we will get back to you as soon as possible.

    Thank you for your understanding.

    Yours sincerely,

    F Robertson & J Brayley

  • Return to school

    Thu 20 Aug 2020

    Dear Parents/Carers,

As you know we are welcoming all the children back in September. Our first day of the autumn term will be Monday 7th September 2020. We are really looking forward to seeing them all.

We are planning to keep the one way system in place when we return and adopt a queuing approach for drop off and pick up.

Please queue along church path facing the school from 8.45am to drop your child/children off to a member of staff then walk away from the school using the drive. We aim to move this queue along quickly so if your child is reluctant to leave you, we will have to ask you to step aside until the queue has gone and then we can give you our full attention.

At collection time, please queue again along the church path and we will bring the children out to the playground. As you approach the gate, we will bring your child or children down and you can walk away along the drive again.

We are asking that Year 1-4 are dropped off at 8.45am and that Reception and Pre-School children are dropped off at 9am. If your reception child has a sibling in the older years, you can bring them in at 8.45am and drop them all off together. Pre-School will not have the facility for an early drop off due to the funding for hours.

Please make sure you are using the cemetery car park for parking during these times.

New reception children will come into school from 9am until 12pm for the first 2 weeks (w/c 7th and 14th September) so they leave before lunch. In week 3, they will stay for lunch and be collected at 1.30pm and then be full time in week 4. We will know more in the first week whether the start time needs to remain at 9am or can be 8.45am with the rest of the school.

We are hoping that wrap around care will run as usual in September so please email us with your requirements and we will be in touch before term starts to confirm.

Thanks you very much for your co-operation with this. A wrap around booking form has been sent via email to all parents today.

    Kind regards

Mrs J Brayley- Head of School

  • Message from the WLT regarding the wider opening of schools

    Sun 07 Jun 2020

The Wessex Learning Trust and the schools in the Trust are following Government guidelines regarding the reopening of schools.  As such, schools are currently open for children in nursery, Reception, Year 1 and Year 6.  Any communication from the Trust or schools regarding reopening for other year groups is based on Government guidance and any implication that this decision came from the Regional School Commissioner is retracted.  We hope to welcome children from other year groups back to our schools soon but only when Government guidelines permit this.
